South East Queensland Billion$ of Dollar$ in industries equals Employment
The Yatala Enterprise Area (YEA) “Empire Industrial Estate” AND “Bromelton State Development” are giving employment to the mass migration of people from Sydney and Melbourne
Empire Industrial Estate:
The Yatala Enterprise Area (YEA) is the industrial engine room of the Gold Coast with the capacity to employ 40,000 people; and with the announcement of the Empire Industrial Estate, it’s about to get even bigger.
The new 127 hectare industrial hub is projected to inject $1 billion into the Gold Coast economy over the next 10 years.
The largest industrial project on the Gold Coast and one of the largest in Queensland, The Empire Industrial Estate will ultimately comprise approximately 250 buildings and provide up to 5000 new jobs, according to its creators, The Stephens Group.
The development is located at the heart of the Yatala Enterprise Area and when complete will accommodate 550,000 square metres of buildings in 10 staged lots ranging in size from 2500 square metres to 300,000 square metres.
The first stage is already completed and houses a purpose built 60,000 square metre warehouse owned by Caterpillar Logistics Inc on a 20 hectare site. The Caterpillar Distribution Centre is valued at approximately $80 million.
The Gold Coast is largely known for its tourism sector, the theme parks, the Hinterland and high rises, but our economy is much more diverse than that and Empire Industrial Estate is prime example of what our city’s potential really is.
The strategic location close to the M1 motorway and between the Brisbane CBD and the Gold Coast city’s heart we are in the ideal position to attract businesses nationally.
Caterpillar completed its warehouse in 2013 and Cope Sensitive Freight was currently constructing a distribution centre on a 3.6 hectare site in stage two of the Empire Industrial Estate.
Cope is Australia’s largest independent specialist sensitive freight carrier and its YEA centre will create hundreds of jobs when fully developed.
Yatala Enterprise Area is home to Carlton United Brewery, Caterpillar, VIP Pet-foods, VISY, PWR Performance Products, Erebus Motorsport, Zacpac
Bromelton State Development:
Bromelton State Development is South East Queensland’s futuristic inland freight port straddling the interstate rail line between Brisbane and Melbourne ports and allowing 15000 hectares for future industry.
The inland port is at Bromelton - six kilometres west of Beaudesert - and part of the 15,000 hectare Bromelton State Development Area.
A massive new inland port and industrial precinct is expected to house up to 15,000 jobs.
Bromelton is currently the only future industrial land in South East Queensland with direct access to the national standard gauge railway system and is of great strategic importance.
Queensland Urban Utilities – the water infrastructure utility - has also recently bought a large portion of land at Bromelton, and commercial water supply agreements are being negotiated.
And Queensland Transport in 2014 began a $27.5 million Beaudesert Bypass making sure heavy vehicles will be able to access the future industrial site without clogging Beaudesert by mid-2016.
Now one of Southeast Queensland's smaller councils will waive the first $400,000 in infrastructure charges to lure the first new businesses to Southeast Queensland's "inland port."
Bromelton was first identified in the South East Queensland Regional Plan in 2005.
