The overwhelming enthusiasm for Australian Property Real-Estate by wealthy Asian investors is continuing as they buy up large amounts of free-hold property.

Data from research recently conducted by HBSC found that Australia is one of the favourite property investment markets for affluent Asians.

When you talk about Australia Property Real-Estate investment to Asia at the moment, you are talking the number one destination for property investment among wealthy Indonesians, Malaysians, Singaporeans, Chinese, Hong Kong and India.

HSBC Australia head of mortgages Alice Del Vecchio said Australia's appeal lay in its proximity [to Asia], quality education and lifestyle.

Community links to Asian countries also played a part with close to 70% of Australia's international students being from Asia and many stay in Australia long term to work or reside after completing their studies and graduating.

Traditionally, wealthy Asian investors have gravitated towards the property markets of Sydney and Melbourne but HSBC’s research indicated that was changing, with a noticeable shift to the appealing property markets and environments of Queensland.

Queensland was the choice of 25% of Asian investors planning to buy in the next year, and this was followed by ACT with 23%, Victoria with 20%, NSW with 18%, and WA with 16%.

The high house prices of Sydney and Melbourne, which rose by 13% and 12% respectively over the last year, were likely to be a major reason for this shift.

Cities like Brisbane where house prices lifted by just 3.8% over the last year now provided investors with a better entry point into the Australian property market.

The value and beauty in the South East corner of Queensland is outstanding and more Australians should take notice of the opportunities available to them as there are obvious advantages in investing sooner rather than later.

A variety of universities available, holiday homes, long term investment homes and units, the clear environment, the relative safety, and the freedom in living standards all contribute to the positive draw card that is Queensland.
