China Town Gold Coast Queensland Australia
Authentic Chinese arches will stand above Southport on the beautiful Gold Coast in Queensland Australia as early as next year as the new Chinatown development starts to take shape.
The arches will be given to the Gold Coast by its sister cities, Zhuhai and Beihai, and could arrive late next year.
The proposed Southport project, earmarked for Davenport Street, has reportedly been at the centre of a large round of investment from Chinese-based companies. Billions of dollars worth of development will be injected into the area within the next five years through the Light Rail and the New Hospital.
The China Town development is generating a lot of interest from overseas and with the area surrounding Davenport Street holding a height limit of 40 storeys, we are going to see some big things.
Area councillor Dawn Crichlow has previously called for Mandarin-speaking former prime minister Kevin Rudd to spruik Chinatown in a bid to attract further investment. There is a lot of interest from local business owners with plans to build and develop the area, and the plan to expand the Chinatown influence has already started talks in China to send students over to study in the prominent Asian area.
It is expected to be completed in 2014, the same year the first stage of the light rail will come online which is a very exciting improvement and upgrade of the area which will also lift property prices.
