Australians digging themselves a Retail Black-hole of no return
Australian small businesses are suffering due to Australians not supporting them, the major retailers such as Coles and Woolworths hold approximately 85% of the market including supermarkets, petrol stations and hotel chains and have a strangle hold now that can not be released and is quickly tightening.
Small businesses are reporting very low confidence levels and are expecting 2013 to have it's share of big black clouds and remains downbeat due to the continuing uncertainty about the prevailing economic climate. While small business is hitting rock bottom lows, companies such as Woolworths has just reported a six month profit high of $1.15 Billion
If Australians don't start supporting each other in the way of visiting their local retail stores, privately owned hotels, independent petrol stations etc... then they are doomed to the fact that the large chains will rule them and dictate the prices that will be paid.
It is obviously our Governments fault for letting this transpire, be it Labour or Liberal, they will do absolutely nothing except encourage the multinationals who simply drive the small Australian businesses into oblivion.
You are going to need Good Luck, or Good Skills, Small Australian Businesses and the latter is the operative, and you are going to need lots of it unless the people of Australia support you and you also work smart.
Maybe the answer to combating the multinationals is through technology by going online and educating your local customer base? It's not impossible and in todays ever changing society it may just work for small businesses?
